Bad

Imagine the world if I would just take the Good and the Bad together without passing any judgement about what was good and what was bad.

The other day something bad happened.
My husband and I were trying to repair something and what really ended up happening was that quite by accident we managed to break the thing well and truly. There was really no way to come out of that situation in “one piece” so to speak. The item that we were trying to repair ended up in the garbage bin and we were stuck trying to find an alternative.
And unfortunately, there was no alternative available to us at short notice. And we had to just leave things be and wait until the next day and until a solution presented itself to us.
And I have been thinking about that today because as I reflected on the complete turn around of our plans as a result of the unexpected catastrophe that day.
And it occurred to me, when I considered this with hindsight, that perhaps these sorts of catastrophes come at us at different times because God just really wants our life to move in a certain direction. After all, God who is King of the Universe is certainly able to control the rising of the sun and its setting – not only in our Solar System, but in all the solar systems in the universe… He is able to ensure that we have exactly the right amount of gravity to stay on the planet without being squashed or floating off into the atmosphere. That is a powerful God who can balance all things. He is so powerful that he can get the balance and the distance and the force so accurate that He is able to move one thing in one direction and another thing in another direction a billion times throughout the galaxy and then repeat that same process a billion more in a billion more galaxies.
And what that really means is that if something goes wrong with something that is no accident. God who can control the universe does not make mistakes. God who controls the universe gets things right! When I stop and think about that today, it seems to me that there really is nothing to be afraid of. If things are going badly and this is not what God wants to work with, then He will change things. And if things are going well, then that is also His plan for me.
If I could manage to keep that idea at the forefront of my mind, imagine the wonderful things that could happen in my life! Imagine the world that I could live in if I gave the world to God. I mean really gave it to Him and allowed Him to take control of everything without arguing with Him about every single thing. Imagine the world if I would just take the Good and the Bad together without passing any judgement about what was good and what was bad. Imagine the sort of world I could create if that was how I could live!
For with prayer, I stand on Holy Ground where everything is clear. Here. At the Foot of the Cross.
