Maybe I should just add a few more intentions in there and allow God to help me as He is waiting to do…?

The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes (Murello)
The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes (Murello)

The other day I heard a person – who I hardly know – promise to offer one Decade of the Rosary for another person’s intention.  They offered this as a sort of part prayer.

Now, this was a beautiful thing for this person to do – offer to pray for another person.  But, nevertheless, this offering has remained firmly fixed in my mind.

You see, it seemed somehow stingy to me.  Why offer just one Decade of the Rosary for a particular intention when it is possible to offer all the Rosary for this intention.  Now, if I were to consider God from a human perspective, I would indeed only ever offer one Decade for one intention.  After all, as a human being, it is rarely possible for me to do multiple things well.  In fact, I can be quoted as saying that I am either a good mother, a good business owner, a good wife, a good daughter or a good friend.  But I am certainly never good at all these things at once.  But this is me and my experience.  And God considers other things other than this…

God can do all things and there are no limitations on God.  In fact, when the disciples presented Him with a few loaves of bread and some fish, He multiplied them to the point that not only was everyone satisfied, but there was leftover to spare…

“In those days, when again a great crowd had gathered, and they had nothing to eat, he called his disciples to him, and said to them, ‘I have compassion on the crowd, because they have been with me now three days, and have nothing to eat; and if I send them away hungry to their homes, they will faint on the way; and some of them have come a long way.’ And his disciples answered him, ‘How can one feed these men with bread here in the desert?’ And he asked them, ‘How many loaves have you?’ They said, ‘Seven.’ And he commanded the crowd to sit down on the ground; and he took the seven loaves, and having given thanks he broke them and gave them to his disciples to set before the people; and they set them before the crowd. And they had a few small fish; and having blessed them, he commanded that these also should be set before them. And they ate and were satisfied; and they took up the broken pieces left over, seven baskets full. And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away; and immediately he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.” (Mark 8:1-10).And this causes me to think…  Maybe all this time when I pray, I put my human limitations on my immortal God?  Maybe all this time I am so focused on what I think can be done, that I fail to reflect on the truth?  Which is…  God can handle more than one intention per Decade of the Rosary…  So maybe I should just add a few more intentions in there and allow God to help me as He is waiting to do…?

For with prayer, I stand on Holy Ground where everything is clear. Here. At the Foot of the Cross.
