My poor poor Beloved God to shower blessings on an ungrateful soul such as mine…

People are just never really happy with things – even when things are going really well.
I have only to think of my own life… Here I am living in a world where we have electricity twenty-four hours per day. We have access to unlimited fresh water every single day. I can cool my home in summer and heat it in winter. I can have a hot shower three times a day if I wish. I have access to healthcare for myself and for my children (paid for by the Government if I so choose to rely on them). I have a partner, children, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, peace and harmony. I live in a country with good laws and gun control. My children can attend school safely.
And yet, I still have cause to complain.
I find myself whining about one problem or another and feeling defeated by one thing or another. In fact, I live in the best time in all of history in the best country it is possible to live in during this time. If I have something to complain about then we really have a real problem, because I literally could not get a better life… I mean – of course my life is imperfect, but if we are to consider all the things that could go wrong with my life, I certainly have not had that happen to me yet and so my life is very very very blessed… In many ways, I am like the people who were invited to the marriage feast and said no because they could not see the BLESSINGS in front of their faces…
“And again Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a marriage feast for his son, and sent his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast; but they would not come. Again he sent other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, Behold, I have made ready my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves are killed, and everything is ready; come to the marriage feast.’ But they made light of it and went off, one to his farm, another to his business, while the rest seized his servants, treated them shamefully, and killed them. The king was angry, and he sent his troops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the thoroughfares, and invite to the marriage feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment; and he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, and cast him into the outer darkness; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.’ For many are called, but few are chosen.’” (Matthew 22:1-14).
And I have been thinking about that today. For it seems that I am most ungrateful for the blessings that I have already received. Poor God. My poor poor Beloved God to shower blessings on an ungrateful soul such as mine…
For with prayer, I stand on Holy Ground where everything is clear. Here. At the Foot of the Cross.
